second adjustment(:

#1 Post by defiate »

I first got my braces on August 28th of this year. At that appointment, I received top and bottom braces and bite turbos. Due to a filling that needed to be done, I only got brackets on a few of my teeth. Now, here I am, with bite turbos still on, brackets on every tooth, elastics and three springs.

Needless to say, I am in a lot of pain.

My orthodontist says that I am making good progress, and that if I continue to wear the elastics properly and take care of my teeth, then my braces can come off sooner than originally planned (Feb 2018). My bite turbos might come off at my next appointment (Jan 12 - my best friend's birthday!).

My pain was managed last time with an excessive amount of ice cream and a lot of pain killers. Unfortunately, I have neither of those handy. Words cannot begin to describe how much I want to take off these elastics, but I know that I'll get used to them quicker if I keep them on. Either way, it hurts like crazy.

I'm in desperate need of motivation and advice on how to relieve the pain - even if just a little bit (:

Clove oil
Painkillers
You need to get pain killers. There is no other way to get rid of it.

Pain killers and I personally like cold things (milkshakes, icees, etc). Good luck!

I always wait a few days after my adjustment to add in the elastics. I let me teeth recover from the wire change then a few days later I add the elastics. I know it's terrible, but elastics have been SO painful for me.

I don't understand why they're so painful. I've been wearing elastics for 2 months now and had no pain at all. Are they class 2? Which teeth do you have them on?
