Second reply: How big of a gap do braces make in your teeth before they close up?

You need to look at the entire treatment time as a process. Gaps may appear and then disappear as your treatment progresses, and it's normal. There's no guideline for a gap getting "too big" before it's closed down. Sometimes a temporary gap is necessary for the alignment of other aspects of your teeth, such as when the palate is being expanded. There are many techniques for closing gaps, depending on how big they are, where they are, and why they are appearing. Don't guess in silence; ask your orthodontist or dentist about what's transpiring and how they will be handling it!

See Dr. Tam's response, above:
It isn't uncommon for a space to appear between the front teeth as the teeth align. This is because the early wires are often trying to create more space for the teeth to move. It doesn't look great but the truth is that orthodontics is much easier when there is adequate space for the teeth than not enough. I would not be concerned as these spaces are quite easy to close off. Good luck
