Here's hoping three times a charm! Just have to wait for my positioner to come in: Hope my posterior open bite doesn't relapse while waiting for it. I'm in Hawley wraparound retainers again. This time it took 6 days to get my retainers and unlike the first time I got retainers (1st time I got them it was 4 days after removal), there was no tightness at all. Maybe this means my bite is more stable this time?

Oh you and me both! I get my positioner on Thursday and that should help settle my bite: unfortunately retainers don't retain the bite, as they only prevent crooked teeth.

Thanks again, all! I have a feeling that I will have a much more successful result with the positioned. I'm so glad I insisted on having one: my ortho didn't seem that interested in giving me one but since I want to say I've done EVERYTHING to achieve a stable result, I pushed for it. Just glad he isn't charging me extra for it and that pretreatment ended early so I was refunded some of my money!

Just got my positioner and man oh man is this thing uncomfortable to wear. My bite is still holding 2 weeks after removal and ortho said to play it by ear as to when to wear this but he said just to wear it at night. I don't see how useful this thing is if worn while sleeping: it only works when you bite into it and obviously you're not actively doing that while asleep unless you're maybe a grinder (which I'm not).

Anyone have any experience with these?
