Advise needed - Carriere Treatment, Invisalign or braces?

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to the site and have been reading people's braces stories and learned so much already. Now I need help making a decision to choose a treatment plan.

I'm a 26 year old female with moderate/severe overjet. 8mm overjet on the left side and 5mm overbite on the right.
Another thing is I have a protruding mouth and retruding lower jaw like many other Asian people.

I consulted four different Orthodontists and here are their opinions:
Ortho #1: Invisalign + Rubber band + IPR
Ortho #2: Carriere + Braces (suggested lower jaw surgery)
Ortho #3: Carriere + Invisalign
Ortho #4: Braces+ Rubber band + IPR

There is a wildcard might create problems - Teeth 26 and 27 fused into one big tooth (looks to be from the root). Ortho #3 and #4 seemed quite concerned about it.

I'm quite nervous about the IPR as I did have an issue with sensitive teeth before (although not the ones that will be shaved down). Also, I have pretty much eliminated the surgery option after I read about potential permanent nerve damage.

After reading about Carriere, I feel this device might be best non-surgical way to improve my profile. I think I'm leaning towards Ortho #2 and #3, but could not decide between braces or invsialign. I did read that invisalign could hold the lower teeth and stop them from rotating during treatment.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated! I have postponed my wedding so I can fix my teeth first. I hope I can finally be able to smile confidently on the big day!

Mostly replying because I am going through the 3rd option you describe, so if you want to read what I have gone through, feel free to check out my blog linked below.

As for whether to go for traditional braces or Invisalign, I think it's really up to what you prefer. The technology has advanced quite a bit over the years and a well-trained orthodontist can accomplish a lot of things with Invisalign that were formerly limited to traditional braces, at which point it boils down to what you want to deal with. Each route has pros and cons, but both should give you a gorgeous smile at the end of the journey! Best of luck!

arciedee, Thank you for the reply!

I think I'm going to pick the invisalign treatment since a cut in my mouth forms ulcer quite easily. I'm afraid the braces/wires will even make speaking painful.
I'm reading your blog and I'm not looking forward to the spacer experience...
