GOLD BRACES?

#1 Post by Loopyman76 »

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone here has (or has had) GOLD braces (gold brackets), or if you know anyone that has had them. I still have a little while to decide what kind of braces I want, and I've considered gold. I am DEFINITELY leaning toward regular metal (silver) brackets, or ceramic. There's at least one orthodontist in my area that specifically mentions gold braces on his website as an option. Just curious as to you guys' opinion of the gold?

I personally prefer gold jewelry over silver, but am not sure I would want to draw attention to my braces in that way. Are they gold-plated brackets, or just what sort of alloy is being offered? If it's plated, I would worry a bit about it coming off the underlying bracket. I would also be concerned that it would tend to make my teeth look more yellow. Can you post a picture of what they look like?

I have heard that gold is actually less noticeable than silver brackets. I think I found a vlog on utube and a girl had them. Personally I have ceramic and silver bottoms

Yeah there is a girl who has a vlog on Youtube with them on the bottom. Sara Luna I think.

I am getting gold lingual braces. I think that is a bit different from what you are asking about, but apparently they are less visible through the teeth. Silver lingual braces give a bluish hue.

I'm referring to actual gold brackets (not lingual). I believe they are metal, but gold plated (not sure). I've seen them before (on pictures not in person) and they're actually nice-looking on some people. They tend to look like "jewelry-ish". I was wondering if anyone on here has them or knows someone who does. Like I said, I'm definitely leaning toward tradition metal (silver), or either ceramic tops/silver metal nottoms.

I've seen a couple of people around my town with them.

If I did not have Invisalign, I would've gotten gold brackets.

I think they are beautiful and more unique.

I have ceramic uppers, I will say I'm happy with them because they don't really show up in photos.

I had never even heard of gold, but I looked them up and I could see them working for some people.

How does the cost compare to silver and ceramic?

Let me say this...gold sounds AWESOME! If I could have gotten gold braces with diamond accents and spinners, I would have done it  .

I was told the cost is comparable to ceramic brackets.

If I did not have Invisalign, I would have liked ceramic uppers and gold lowers.

Hello,

I've been lurking in the shadows for 3 months but I have just joined because I have Gold brackets on my bottom teeth.

When my orthodontist first suggested Ceramic uppers and Gold lowers, I was thinking Gold, are you mad!? I'll look like Lil Wayne.

He explained that Gold was less noticeable than Silver because teeth fall on the slightly yellow colour spectrum. I followed his advice and 3 months in I'm pleased. They are quite subtle. Originally he paired them with God ligatures but on my last visit he used Pearl and they look better.

I don't know if they were more expensive than Silver, that's not something he mentioned. I'll bite his finger on my next appointment just incase they were more expensive.

Thanks,

g
