Hello,
I recently went for an orthro appointment and I got new metal brackets placed on my molars to straighten them, however, the metal bracket on my upper molar is hitting the metal bracket on my lower molar, therefore, none of my teeth touch. It is really uncomfortable and I haven't been able to eat anything solid for about 3 days. I was wondering if I will be able to adjust to this eventually or will I need to go back. Thanks!

Re: Can't bite down after braces
If anything is hitting your brackets directly when you bite down, you need to call your ortho. They can adjust it.
Braces on: 2/25/2013. Braces Off: 12/23/2015
Current Retainers: Hawley Top, Essix Bottom, and Permanent Lingual Bottom

I had this problem too, so they put 'bite blocks' or whatever you want to call them on my molars, little bumps of glue, so I can't bite down properly, but I won't nip my bracket off
so yes tell your orthodontist, and you'll get some too

Re: Can't bite down after braces
My top teeth were hitting my brackets as well and my ortho put in molar buildups. These are a PAIN in my side, but they will fix the issue. Good luck!

I had the exact same problem! I had it on multiple teeth in multiple parts of my mouth!
Just hang in there, tell your ortho, and it will get better.

Maybe you have molar build up? Can this be your case? if so, this is done on purpose...

I had this problem as well I don't know what to do
Re: Can't bite down after braces
They put molar buildups on my lowers as well otherwise my upper front teeth would impact my front lower brackets. It was incredibly awkward at first as the build up have a pretty small surface area however I've somewhat gotten used to it after a couple of weeks. It's sure better than having your teeth contact your brackets and better than not being able to chew your food.
