Keep biting the my lip and the inside of my cheeks when eating without my elastics.
Why is this?
Eating without the elastics

Re: Eating without the elastics
Maybe your cheeks are just a little irritated and the elastics act as a fence, keeping them away from your teeth when you bite?
Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!

the elastics/rubber bands are off when i eat
Re: Eating without the elastics
I'm picking up what you're laying down. What I'm saying is, while the elastics are in, maybe your cheeks get a little irritated and swollen. When you take them off to eat that lets the irritated part of your cheek to get between your teeth when you bite. Or maybe your teeth have moved just enough to rub a different part of your cheek and after you bite it once and it swells up, you'll keep accidently biting it. You could try eating with them in to see if that helps or hurts.roxie2519 wrote:the elastics/rubber bands are off when i eat

Re: Eating without the elastics
Similar to what nozzlenut responded, perhaps the elastics have caused a slight fatigue in the muscles of mastication and they are causing your mandible to wander a bit. Just guessing though - the forces at work with elastics are small but constant, and frankly would not expect them to have much effect on the very powerful muscles used for chewing, but around here you get what you pay for in terms of advice and SWAGs.
