Dare I ask??

#1 Post by fleur26 »

I'm 28 and have been wearing braces since October 2010. The original plan was 22-24 months but what with things going better than expected in the movement of a gap from a previous extraction we didn't think would its been longer. Now 36 months in and I'm getting itchy feet I'm going on a massive holiday in two and a half months and hoped I'd be brace free by then. I have an appointment for my six weeks check up tomorrow. Dare I ask a time scale? I'm scared normally incase it's still a long time!!

Since you're already 12 months past your original estimated date, I'd definitely ask for a time frame.

You may be disappointed, but at least you would know something.

It certainly can't hurt to ask. It would be good for you to know what to expect for the remainder of your treatment anyway.

Bad news doesn't age well so you might as well learn the facts. Maybe your ortho has a trick or two up his/her sleeve to get you squared away before your vacation. Naturally the trick will come with a price, such as discomfort. Best of luck to you.
