Teeth turning...

#1 Post by isthistaken »

My teeth are turning and there are brown lines between them, new areas seeing the light of day for the first time. Me no like. I have an important event to attend in May. Should I try different toothpaste, schedule with my hygenist, or? (I did a search on whitening, but there are 147 pages, and most dealing with after braces are off.)

Try an interproximal brush and baking soda mixed with your toothpaste.

This has also happened to me. My dentist said it's hardened plaque and recommend a visit to the hygenist. She said it should come off no problem.

Could it be tartar/calculus? If you had plaque in places you couldn't reach with a brush, then it could have hardened to calculus. It can have a brownish colour. Only a hygienist or dentist can safely remove this.

It is some kind of discoloration that has built up over the years and not been removed because it was inaccessible. Something that is a factor of waiting 40 years to get braces combined with loving coffee, I guess. I'm sure it will be easy to fix after my braces are off, but in the meantime, I will see if I can get it respond to brushing and if not, move up my cleaning a couple of months. Thanks all!

I'm always accumulating stains even the best I try and I clean my teeth a lot! The fact is I love coffee too and tea and tomato ketchup! All stain collectors, the hygienist should be able to clean most of them off no worries so don't panic. I did and got myself into a right mess and all the marks were gone in a matter of minutes!

I am seeing these too!! Me no like either!! :( I never knew they were there until my teeth started moving off and away from one another. I hope they come off! I don't have a cleaning until June so if you have yours before then, do update us with the result! :)

Well, I've been scrubbing like heck and maybe it's a little better already? Switched toothpaste to see if that helps. I'm not scheduled for cleaning until late July, so I may have to move that up and pay for an extra cleaning if it doesn't clear up on its own, but maybe it will! I will definitely report back.

I've been scrubbing like crazy too. It hasn't helped mine! If nothing else, I'm sure when we get our torture devices off and are able to whiten they will come off then! It is really cool to see parts of teeth that you've never seen before.. minus the dark spots! If I have my cleaning first I'll report back as well!
