Braces for an open bite

#1 Post by Anna5 »

Hello! I am new here on this forum. I am excited because I am getting braces next week! I am almost 40 years old, and I have an open bite, unilateral crossbite, crooked teeth and a misaligned jaw (from thumbsucking when I was younger). My ortho advised surgery to fix my problems, but I refused. Now I will just get fixed braces for 9 months. My bite won't get perfect with braces alone I guess, but I hope to get at least a some cosmetic improvement. I would like to share my story with you and hear from you as well. Are there more among you who decided against surgery and just got braces to fix an open bite? And were you happy with the results?
