Mouthguards and braces

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good brand mouthguard that will fit over my braces? I do kickboxing and need one. My orthodontists office suggested the ones you boil and mould yourself, but I've never been able to wear them even without braces.

I've read about shock doctor online, and was wondering how they work?

:)

The shock doctor blue braces mouthguard works pretty well. With kickboxing you might need the double one, just try both and see how they do for you. The braces model has a groove the brackets mostly fit into, and is made to be kind of soft and adaptable to your changing bite and teeth positions, (no boiling or fitting needed). I was told not to use a boil & bite since it would not fit for very long in any case. Worst case scenario a boil & bite could slow down your progress... you are basically taking an impression of you teeth when you fit it, and then it can act like a retainer which would keep the wires, etc. from doing their job. Any mouthguard can be a little uncomfortable, but it sure beats getting cut from a bracket or wire... or a :GapToothed:
