Hi everyone,
ive wanted to fix my teeth for a long time and decided that now is the perfect time. I live in the Uk and have found a really good NHS orthodontist that does private work. Its costing me £2500 for metal bottom and ceramic on the top. Ive just found out that i need to go in hosp for a total abdominal hysterectomy on 10th Dec and had to decide whether to wait or still get the braces. Im going ahead with them:) My ortho and gynacologist are okay with this. So im excited but kind of scared. i decided to change my life at 40. i started exercising, lost four stone sice feb and can now run 10k. Just my teeth to fix now.

Congrats on taking the step to start ortho treatment-I was absolutely petrified about the idea of braces as a child mainly appearance but have built up courage to do this about 12 years later!

I'm in the UK too. I've just turned 25 and have upper ceramics to address a midline diastema. I'm so glad I've done this even if it is out of my own pocket (as opposed to NHS, would have been as a teen).

I overcame my dental phobia, triggered by fear of braces and nasty NHS dentist as a child and am feeling so much better about myself. Like you mentioned I am doing this along with other things to change appearance and build self esteem-I have none. I'm hoping to lose some weight too and transform myself!

Feel free to read my story, as I cant believe how quickly i saw improvements in my teeth.

Wow, congratulations on all your self improvements! I hope your operation goes well and you make a quick and uneventful recovery.
I'm getting braces on the 22nd - posterior crossbite, deep bite, numerous tipped teeth and TMD issues. I also have a midline asymmetry which would need surgery so I decided agains that. BTW, I'm 43 so another of the more senior crowd here.

Congratulations in taking the plunge. I had my top braces put on yesterday and whilst nervous about how people will react I am so excited with what this will do for my smile.
