I have had my upper braces for about 4 months now. Within the last week or so I have had exteremely dry lips that no amount of lip balm or even Blisteze (extremely dry lips/cold sore treatment) has even remedied.
I have also tried the usual Vaseline, Nivea, Lip Smackers, Lypsil and nothing is working.
Please, please can I have some suggestions

Really? It's more than just about applying lip balm? Has this happened to you and the extra hydration and vitamin b done the trick?

Can't tell if you were being sarcastic , but if you aren't staying hydrated the lip balm won't work anyways. It also keeps your braces from scratching up the insides of your mouth.
Re: Dry Lips-Nothing Working!
I'm usually dehydrated, and I am now having dry lip problems. I try to drink water all the time, but I apparently need more than the average person. I have literally tried nearly every lip product available.
I used to use Cherry Chapstick as my go to balm, but when the braces made my lips drier, Chapstick was too dry and hard. So I egan a quest for something better.
Currently, I'm loving Aquafina moisturizing lip balm. I picked up a 4 pack from WalMart (looking to see what country you're in...). I was also taking B complex vitamins, but I stopped as I'm trying to figure out what's causing a coated tongue. Can't pin it down, so going back on the vitamins and minerals, and of course, drinking as much water as I remember to.

I have the same issue with dry, cracked lips often. After trying all the lip blams, I have started using Neosporin. Within 2 to 3 days, the dry, chapped lips goes away.

I use regular facial moisturiser morning and evening and make sure to have some lip balm by the bed as my lips get very dry at night.
The best balm I have found for regular use is Simple Intensive Lip Moisturiser, which is a gel that goes on like a lip gloss.

I just can't figure it out. Only ever had problems chaffing with the brackets (ceramic) was after initial fitting *touch wood*.
Am trying to stay hydrated but I have never known this issue of mine so bad, especially in the corners of my mouth
