Help - exterior jaw pain, anyone?

#1 Post by Jerseygirl »

Has anyone experienced this? I have an appointment to see the ortho tomorrow – but just wanted to ask others on here.

I’ve begun to have pain on the OUTSIDE of my lower jaw. Along the jaw line – I do not have pain in my teeth but rather an ache that is radiating back but on outside.
If I push on the bone it hurts. I began to notice it when I was laying on that side of my head in bed. The pain is below molars – so side, not in front.

I am someone who has suffered with TMJ in the past – and this is my ‘bad’ side. But I’ve never felt this before. Also – I have all my wisdom teeth but they are totally erupted and never given me an issue.

I’m wondering if this is associated with my orthodontia (I am now 4 months in) – and if so, what is it? Maybe roots moving? I am sure he will take an xray. The pain isn’t unbearable but it does feel like it is getting a bit worse
So best to get it checked out. There is NO pain when I chew on the actual teeth – like a cavity or tooth breakage either.

Thanks for any feedback!
