Nerve Damage - Braces

#1 Post by Sandra D »

I have been wearing braces for over a year - all okay until now. It had come to the time to move the front teeth a little back and a week back I got a heavier wire put in which has been pulling on a tooth that has had a filling from years back.

After days of painful shooting nerve pain my whole cheek has blown up.

My orthodontist suspects nerve damage which is most likely to result in a root canal.
She assures me it was not the braces/orthodontic treatment but the tooth itself.

My question is - Can excessive pressure of the braces do damage to the nerves??
