Can anyone who's had the "6 month Smiles" type of braces, please post a picture of what the retainer you get after treatment looks like?
And could you please tell me how the retainer process works?? I've been told that once my "6 month smiles" come off (probably in September or October of this yet), that I will get a retainer that I'll have to wear 24/7.
Is this a "fixed" retainer that goes behind your teeth? Or is this a visible retainer? Do they take the impressions for the retainer while your braces are still on?
Yes it will be a fixed retainer - a little wire cemented behind your front four teeth(top & bottom). It is a tiny wire, is not noticeable and after 3 or 4 days you forget its even there.

Did they give you an option of which retainer you'll get? I really do not want the fixed retainer.
So I found out last night at my appnt that I will have a fixed retainer on the bottom teeth (that goes behind the teeth so you won't see it)... and a wired "in-front" retainer on the top I really don't want any wires visible on my teeth though! I wish I could get the 'behind the teeth' one on the top row as well but he says it won't work... ah well.
