Loose teeth??

#1 Post by mickjordmoll »

Ok, so I've had my braces now for 33 days. Every once in awhile i will be talking or eating and I will feel one of my teeth slightly move..tonight it was my top front tooth. If I gently rub it with my tongue it will feel like it is back to its normal position. Should this be happening? Are my teeth going to fall out? Worried.

It can be very disconcerting, but it is normal. Your teeth won't fall out.

It's normal. Upsetting, but normal. It's because the ligaments holding your teeth in place are loosening up. They won't fall out, especially with your braces holding them in place.

Oh good. I expected some 'movement' but I wasn't prepared for the actual 'loose tooth' feeling. I was afraid my reocurring dream of my teeth falling out was coming true! lol
Thanks guys!

While eating (pizza) the other night, I commented to my husband that my canine was super loose. He freaked out (of course) and was concerned that it wasn't normal. I (in between bites of pizza) told him not to worry - that it was all completely normal and he needn't be concerned that all of my teeth were going to fall out during dinner

It is certainly disconcerting, but makes me feel better to know that they are loose and on the move!

Yep, I keep feeling this on one of my top incisors. It's weird! I keep feeling it click between positions. I can ever so slightly wobble it if I touch it (and that feels a bit sensitive!), but the movement isn't visible.
My Story — Braced on 2 March 2012. 4 premolar extractions. Ceramic/clear uppers, metal lowers. Duration of 2 years.
Currently: Third adjustment 19 June (all teeth bracketed!)

I just logged on to check this...I was just brushing my teeth and pushed on the wire a bit and my premolar moved...like it properly moved! I freaked out a little and then calmed down because I guess it's all a bit loose to help the teeth move (there's a lot of pressure on this guy). I should probably leave the wires alone and just let my ortho do the movement stuff!
