Can it be done or not?

Yes. I have a deep bite and that is exactly what my ortho is doing. I got my top braces on a while ago and now that my front 6 teeth are appropriately intruded, I will be getting my bottom braces on at my next adjustment Tuesday to start intruding my bottom teeth.

How long did it take for you to notice a difference? How is your ortho intruding your teeth? Thanks for your reply!

He used a stainless steel archwire with some bends in it back by my molars. The bends aren't visible once the wire was inserted, but I watched him manipulate the wire so I know they are there. I've had this configuration for 4 months, and it took about 2 months before there was any noticeable change. The plan is to intrude my uppers only a couple mm, so it's not all that obvious. Most of the action is going to be intruding my lower teeth, and that will start next week.

How long does he think it's going to take to intrude your lowers and do you notice you have more tongue space? Please keep me updated with your case it's somewhat similar to mine.

Timing - I really don't know. The initial estimate he gave me was that I'd get my lower braces on 6 months after my uppers and the whole process would take 18 months. Well, its been 15 months so far and I'm just about to get my lowers on Tuesday, so I'm guessing I have another year to go. Most of that time was because I had 2 pesky premolars that needed to be rotated and they took forever to move. I'm hoping the rest of the process moves along a bit quicker.
Tongue space - hard to say at this point, but I'm expecting I will have more space once my lower teeth are intruded, as that's where the bulk of the movement that needs to occur will happen.

I'm curious why you guys are intruding your teeth.
Isn't this essentially shortening them, which is the same as a collapsing the bite? I'm just curious why you'd purposely do this? Is it common in ortho treatment?

I have a deep bite, primarily because my bottom front 6 teeth are much taller than my other bottom teeth, and as a result I have significant wear on the back/tongue side of my upper front teeth. Also have crowding on the bottom that needs more space, and gaps on the top that need to be closed. I'm not quite sure how common this particular "configuration" is, although I don't recall seeing anyone else here with a similar set of issues so I'm guessing it's not all that common.

My teeth have to be intruded because when I had invisalign it messed up my bite, my teeth erupted, and now we need to reverse what went wrong.

And if you do search on here, intrusion is quite common.
