I'm just curious... after I had issues with ACT staining my teeth, my general dentist put me on Prevident Sensitive and GC MI Paste Plus as anti-demineralization treatments; is anybody else on here on this stuff?
(Prevident is a prescription toothpaste with about four times as much fluoride (1.1%) as OTC toothpaste (0.24%). GC MI Paste Plus is fluoridated high-calcium goop that is supposed to supplement the calcium in saliva to help teeth stay mineralized.)
Given the proven re-mineralization and anti-demineralization benefits of high fluoride, and nearly zero side effects as long as you don't swallow the stuff (ok, it doesn't taste that great either), I'm surprised high-NaF toothpastes aren't a standard part of orthodontic treatment. (Although if you don't have Rx insurance, it's kind of expensive at $15-ish for a 3.3oz bottle, but with insurance, it only costs me about $5 for about a month's worth.)
Anybody else on Prevident or GC MI Paste?

Re: Anybody else on Prevident or GC MI Paste?
I'm on Prevident once a week. The other days I use ACT. The Prevident was an RX my dentist sold me. The ACT mouthwash works best for me. I tried Listerine, but I don't like the effects on my teeth (seemed to cause them to change to an icky color). I'm sure it just depends on your teeth and what works best for you. The Prevident is to prevent cavities.
