It actually is just wax. Unless you are talking about dental silicone.

Yeah, i am pretty sure it is silicone. Wax or silicone, it works GREAT!

it is good stuff, no idea what its made of but i reckon silicone is a good bet haha i find it tricky to get it on the side of my teeth but doing any at the front is easy

My ortho said that it was imperative to make sure that the wax, bracket and tooth surface must be dry before the "wax" was applied. It really helps a lot.

ooh yes i forgot they told me that 
but i find when getting it onto the side ones my own saliva gets in the way
