I am getting my braces on May 17th..I am supposed to get the Forsus appliance too...I have no idea if it's usually at the time they put them on or later..I would love some input...I am soooo new to this...but glad I'm getting them anyway--better late than dentures--I'm 55...

Hi Klobird,

I'm afraid I can't help with your question, but I just wanted to say good on you for getting braced at 55, and best of luck with your journey - I'm sure you won't regret it, and I look forward to following your journey!

Hey klobird,

Although I've had elastics in several configs, I've not had forsus springs, but I know some other forum members have. You may want to try "forsus" in the Search function and see what displays. Anyway, just wanted to wish you well on your journey, you won't regret it.

Hey Klobird, I had a go with forsus spring just this past October 2010 if your ortho. Plans to put them in at the same time as your braces I would hold off for a little while on the forsus spring your already taking a lot in by getting the braces on. Im not going to lie there a pain in the butt there hard to eat with and clean after. for me they caused a lot of pain for the first week you may of may not have that I hope you dont but I glad I went with the forsus spring because they do work better then elastic and they work a little faster then elastic to if you have any question I can give it my best to answer them :D

I had my braces on for 3 years 4 months and 24 days that would be a grand total of 1220 days

Chances are you won't be getting your FORSUS springs in at the same visit you put your braces on. The reason is because you will have have to "graduate" to a larger stainless steel wire before the springs can be used. This usually means going in a series of NiTi wires, and then lighter stainless steel wires first.

If using the X-bow class 2 corrector, there is the option to have the springs placed in the same days as appliance insertion or to delay that until after getting used to the RPE/lingual arch.

Hope this helps!
