Angry ram?

#1 Post by jambo532 »

So I got my springs taken off (see blog or previous posts) and now I am in elastics for the finishing touches of jaw stuff. I was just curious, does everyone have a different angry animal on their elastics bag? I have an angry ram, I've heard of other animals too. Is this just showing the strength of the elastic or is it just meant to be funny?

These are my angry rams... I don't think they are super strong. They are just pulling my jaw forward a tiny bit more.

They are different strengths. I had the Donkey elastics across my front teeth.

My orthodontist's elastics are all named after mythological creatures, which she admitted is a gimmick to get tween girls to wear them more.

I started out with "sprites," which on the package look like some kind of a furry Muppet. When the orthodontist first gave me these, I jokingly said I'm glad I didn't have the minotaur elastics...not knowing that there really is such a thing as minotaur elastics!

"Patients have to work up to those," she said. "They hurt."

Seems appropriate.

Haha...I actually thought, for a minute that the actual name on the bag was "Angry Ram". :-* I have Jaguars, extra heavy force. The company that manufactures them is Rainforest. My jaguar doesn't look too angry.

The animal doesn't matter. It is the strength and size of the elastic that matters.

There are a whole array of different ones with different names:

3M goes with names like Bill and Fred
American uses animals like Eagle and Tortoise
GAC uses countries like USA and Switzerland

Never really looked at the package and thought the animals looked angry though :).

I just got my elastics today. I got kangaroos. It's funny the momma has a little baby in it's pouch and they both have boxing gloves on. Talk about angry!

That sounds both strange and amusing; mine have only ever been in different coloured packets for different tensions.
