Joe Girardi - New York Yankees manager

This isn't recent news, but I just caught it recently (I'm not a sports fan I guess) - the New York Yankees manager, 45 year-old Joe Girardi has been wearing braces for the past year or so. Plug "joe girardi braces" into your favorite search engine and there are plenty of photos & stories about this.

I'm always happy to see role models wearing braces ESPECIALLY guys which are far more rare than the ladies. Seeing someone in that position, at that age, makes braces seem a lot more cool - if he can do it then anybody can.

Any other recent examples of public figures with braces?

I know that Katherine Heigl and Mindy Kaling (Kelly from the Office) recently had or still have Invisalign. And of course, Tom Cruise had ceramic braces a couple of years ago.

This isn't a recent example, but Gwen Stefani from the band No Doubt had braces several years ago. What's kind of interesting about her is that she didn't get them to straighten her teeth - she just wore them as a fashion statement, and because they made her "feel younger"

Also, along with the sports theme, NASCAR driver Greg Biffle sported ceramics for most of last year. Of note, one of his sponsors is (Clarity bracket manufacturer) 3M

I didn't know that someone could get braces without needing them. Seems odd.

Then again, she's famous!
