Ok, so I am a little nervous. I should be getting my braces off soon, but I am still getting tiny spaces between my teeth when I floss. Is this normal? Will it go away? Please advise?

I've read on this forum, posts from people who got debraced, and many of them said that their retainers finished the job.

do you have elastic powerchains holding your teeth together? if i don't have them on, then my teeth start getting little gaps too.. as soon as she puts the powerchains back on though.. in days they are completely gone. that might do the trick.

I heard my ortho telling a girl who just had her braces off, to use super thin floss. Anything bigger can cause gaps.
I tried the thin floss, I hated it. I am back to my thicker kind, I will get a gap but it closes quickly.

I never heard of that... that's good to know. But what is considered super thin floss versus thick floss? I thought they're all pretty thin.

I like Reach by Johnson & Johnson.
I believe the other kind I hated was Glide, not sure if that is who manufactures it but it was pretty flimsy and hard to manuever.

I actually have the same problem, I only notice the gap opening between my two front teeth when I floss. If I floss at night it is closed by the morning normally.
I have a power chain and I still get the gap when I floss. I will try using the thinner floss between those teeth and see if it makes a difference.

Support! I have powerchains too and my front teeth are like the Katy Perey song Hot n Cold. They're apart then rogether, then not together, etc. A few weeks ago, my gap had finally completely closed bit after my dental cleaning when she scaled some tarter from behind my teeth, it opened again and I knew it sitting in the chair. I could feel the teeth opening up. :(.

Wow i had spacers for a week and they only every so slightly made a space. I just can't see how running a piece of floss through the teeth for a few seconds is going to open a gap. Are you sure there is not always a gap there but plaque fills it in, then you remove the plaque when you floss and that just makes the gap visible..

That's what I was thinking. You aren't creating a space by thin or thick floss, you are cleaning your teeth and all that is sitting between them. Your gaps are there regardless. You should inquire about powerchains to close the gap. I had gaps created by IPR and two sets of powerchains to close them (long links and shorter links). They closed in no time. I wouldn't have my braces taken off until my gaps are closed.
