There are some that believe improving the occlusion can help with overall alignment including spinal.
Neuromuscular dentistry is one but there are other philosophies that feel this way too.

Actually, I think your question is legitimate. I have been suffering with a TMJ disorder for years although I didn't realize initially that my jaw was the problem. The reason is that my pain was in my neck and shoulders and also tension-type headaches which originate at the base of my skull and radiate over my head.
I was told by several doctors, one my TMJ dentist and the other my chiropractor, that people who suffer from a TMJ disorder often unconsciously hold their head in the head-forward position. This puts strain on the muscles at the base of the skull and causes the muscle pain that goes down the neck and into the shoulders and contributes to the headaches.
In my case, I had a special splint created for me which helped get my jaw into propert alignment. It wasn't an overnight fix, but I did eventually start feeling like my headaches and neck pain were getting better. About 4 months ago I got my braces which are aligning my teeth into a better position and I've had a recurrence of the headaches and neck pain. My doc assured me that this was due to the tooth movement and should lessen up as I get further into my treatment and there isn't so much movement going on.

I meant to respond to your question directly. You can read my earlier post with my experience with the "head-forward" position and neck pain.theusername wrote:forward head posture so my muscles are unaligned.. would my pain from the neck go away or get worser with adjustments to my jaw?
ive been to see a tmj specialist beacuse of my on going tmj pain. he asked me to take my shirt off. he wanted to show me my bad body posture. i have a forawrd head posture and also breathe out of my mouth. he told me that this is very much connected to my tmj pain.
ive also seen a physio who also said the same thing.
