An update that's been a long time coming

#1 Post by newsboysgrl777 »

Hi all:

It's been a long time since I've been around here. Just coming by to check in and say YES, I'm still a 'brace face' LOL. At my last appointment (Monday 4/26), I got molar bands put on my very last molars on the bottom. It would've been on the top as well, but the technician put the spacers in too far, so they were only digging into my gums and not creating any movement. THAT was pretty traumatic since I had to tell the technician removing the spacers that there truly WERE spacers put in the top and then when she finally 'dug' them out, I bled rpetty bad. :( NOT COOL!! Then I had to have spacers put back in (only lower) so I can get molar bands in a few weeks.

On top of having the bands on the bottom, they put bite turbos in again. I HATE them just as much this time as I did before. (I had them put on when I first got my lower brackets put on and I ended up biting one off the day it was put on.) My ortho told me she is doing that to 'open up my bite.' (The technician last time told me what that means is that my molars will 'extract' - which means they'll push up out of the gums more.)

So...I'm 21 months into treatment and still experiencing discomfort and sometimes pain. Just like every other month before this one, I can not WAIT to have these things taken off my teeth!! I finally asked my ortho at my appointment previous to my last one how long she anticipated these being on. She said maybe by the end of teh summer. I'm not holding my breath, as I know it's only a guess...but I am HOPING it'll be true!

Thanks for reading to my update. I'll tryto take some photos and post them later. :)
