Elastics not doing anything

#1 Post by Lola »

Hi, I have class three elastics for the last month perhaps. They don't seem to do anything. I know they are to correct a bite- does this mean that the movement is not visible?
Also, why have I class three and no underbite? I have never had an underbite. I posted before thinking that maybe the gaps between the upper and lower arches at the canines would close with them, but so far no joy. Any ideas??

I don't know tons about braces but I've had an elastic on for 2 months and I can see a big difference. I wear an "Impala" 24/7 to fix my crossbite.

Maybe give it some more time :)

What do you mean a huge difference, have the teeth moved or the bite fixed? As I said I have no under over or cross bite!

1 month isnt really that long with elastics.

You do not nbeed a full blown underbite to use class 3 elastics. many times the docs is just trying to detail the interdigitation of the teeth by using these elastics.

I've been wearing 'parallel elastics' for my midline for the past five months and don't see a big improvement either. Is that abnormally slow? I'm worried, I don't want to be doing this effort if they are not working.

Those midline elastics seem to work slow.

Do you think I should ask my ortho what exactly he thinks is going on? I've been an almost perfect wearer, with few exceptions and still it does not seem to speed up the process...

cant hurt to ask of course. These last finishing movements always seem to be the toughest.
