Questions to ask at your consultation

#1 Post by allisun »

Hi! I did a search on the forum, but couldn't find a thread that lists GENERAL questions people might want to ask at their initial consultations. If there already is one, forgive me! Aside from all the technical questions related to our individual cases, I wanted to start a list of questions people can take with them if they don't know where to start. A list like this would have been helpful for me when deciding which office to go with.

1. About what percentage of your patients are adults?
2. Do most of your patients end up finishing within the original estimated timeframe?
3. Do you welcome patients who want to be involved/understand their own treatment, or do you prefer that patients just trust your judgment?
4. Will you be doing most of the work yourself, or will your assistants/other orthos in the practice do a lot of it? (Some people are shocked that the doc isn't doing the adjustments him/herself)
5. What happens to my payment plan if my insurance changes or I lose my insurance?
6. Is there a chance you'll move or retire before I'm done? (May be awkward to ask, but you'd want to know!!)

What general questions would you add to help folks decide between multiple orthos with similar treatment plans and prices?
