How long were you in braces?

I had my braces put on July 15th 2008. My teeth were never bad, I just needed a little adjustment to a small crossbite. They originally told me I would have them for about a year. I went in for my apt a few weeks ago and they are now saying I will have them off in the Spring. For some reason I do not see it to be possible to have everything shifted and in place in less than a year of application. Has anyone else had their braces on for less than a year?

I know someone who was supposed to have their braces on for a year and a half but got them off around the 7th month.

Orthodontist really cant tell you how long you may have your braces on because they dont know how fast your teeth can move or problems they can run into which can delay the process. They really just give you a round about answer.

My orthodontist told me that I would have to wear my braces for 2 and a half years, but I only had to wear them for a year and 11 months.

Its just an estimate really.

My estimated time is 20-24 months - I had crowding and a bad crossbite.

However they're setting me up for impressions for retainers in December. So I guess if that goes all accordingly I'll have my braces off a few months a head of time!

well this is a little different..but my orthodontist told me it would take 6 months to close my gap between my front two teeth and it took a little over 3 months. hopefully thats a good sign that I'll be done with these braces sooner.
