I realized a couple of days ago that I've been a member of this forum for TWO years. In a couple of weeks I will have had braces for two years.
I would like to thank Lynn for making this forum available. Without it, I would have not started this journey. While most of the people who responded to my first couple of posts are no longer active (their treatment has been completed and so they're not frequent visitors) I see many questions like my first ones. Its amazes me how many of us ask the same questions and go through the same emotions. I'm not sure I'd be as positive with this experience without the various voices of this group. My treatment has taking a few different directions due to changes in my desires and willingness to follow suggestions that I first refused. I originally thought this would be over by the time I turned fifty, in mid September. Now I know I'm only half way there. I've not been as active as I was a few months ago. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy during the summer and have been trying to get medications sorted out. I'm able to do much more on medications than I could before. Therefore, I often am doing physical activities rather than sitting in front of a computer.
Would I do it again....YES! I still believe this process has been one of the best investments in my physical and mental health. I would encourage anyone with concerns about their oral health to investigate orthodontics. I'd recommend my ortho. And I recommend people join the Archwired family.

Congratulations!!! I've been in braces for two years now and I think October will be my two year anniversary at Archwired! I really wish I would have found this site before I got my braces, but I discovered it pretty soon after my treatment started and it's been great to be able to learn from everyone and answer some questions along the way.

Hi,
happy anniversary. Congrats !
For pursuing the result you want. Progress is made when people do not settle
for the simple and easy solution. But at the same time, it involves we have to
be patient a lot. I am sure you know what I mean. Have been there, have seen
it. No, I still am. Most importantly, you see progress. And that's all we can hope
for.
To a lot more and spectacular progress, YAY !

I'm glad you haven't lost your enthusiasm and patience of having your braces longer than you anticipated. I had my braces a year longer than the initial estimate I was given at my consultation, and not once did it ever bother me. I just got my braces off 2 weeks ago and as I had always said, I was so proud of myself for making the decision to proceed with orthodontic treatment.
I knew I had not seen your posts in awhile, but, at the same time, I have been so busy and didn't have much to write about, that I had not posted either. I do hope your health gets better and hope you are doing well.
Take care.

Great to hear enthusiasm from all of the 2+ year metal mouths! I've had mine on for just about 2 years and 4 months, and am hoping to be finished soon. I have to say, though I've reached a point where I really don't think realistically about getting the darn things off. I think once I went past my original estimate, I just settled into a waiting pattern. And my ortho does not really give any indication of when they'll come off---he only says things like "You're really making progress" or "You're heading toward the finish line." It is frustrating at times, especially when it seems like nothing has changed the past few months...Anyway, thanks for the optimistic posts here!!!
