Clear brackets vs Metal Brackets

#1 Post by iloveusk8rboi »

On Aug 27th I am getting my braces. The doctor has recommended InOvation C which is a clear ceramic self-ligating bracket. However I saw someone with these clear brackets and they looked bizarre, almost plastic. Does anyone have these InOvation C brackets? Does anyone know if InOvation has metal brackets. Is there a cost difference between the clear and metal?

I think there is InOvation-R which are metal. My ortho just started offering them (after I got traditional metal brackets...figures). I don't know about the cost difference or anything. Maybe give your ortho a call and ask.

I am totally excited about getting my braces!! but after seeing that girl and other pics I didnt think that the clear brackets were all that attractive. Maybe it's just me... when i think braces I think metal. I hope that my ortho has the Inovation in the metal. I do know that he carries the Damon braces.. and those are in metal. Does anyone know if the Damon braces come in gold?

I have In-Ovation C. They're not too bad. I had to pay $500 more for In-Ovation C. Most people don't notice I have braces or say anything about them. When I got the braces I was kind of worried about what people would say. Since, I got the braces I realized it was no big deal and I think I could have gone with the metal. Overall I am happy with In-Ovation C.

Cost difference = none

I just called my Ortho and he no longer even carries the Damon brackets, he now only has the In-Ovation brackets and YES!! they do come in metal. I asked if they came in gold and it was a "No" :( bummer.
Well, as for price difference there is none. Its just a choice he offers.. clear or metal.

Thank you for your info, I will be sure to post pics of my braces on the 27th!!!! can't wait!!
