any one else with deep bite (class two )
I just wondered what sort of braces and treatment plans other people are being offered. I'm in my mid thirties and have no other problems with my teeth but my uppers at the front almost totally cover the lowers which gives the short lower face issue that goes with deep overbite and why i want to correct it as well as wanting to avoid future problems.
The first ortho I saw offered fixed braces for 18 months - two years with monthly appointments (i guess for tightening) upper ceramic, lower metal.
Other orthos are saying that this wont correct the root (sorry jaw!!) of the problem and i will need elastics and a bite plate possibly later a split to be worn at night. Just to keep abreat of what's out there, I'd be really grateful to know what other people with deep bites are going with...it would eb a huge help.

Hello, I have a deep bite, and small lower jaw, and currently have top braces to bring the teeth out to fit the bottom ones on, and hav had to have a tooth taken out (today actually!) on the bottom for space to straighten out my teeth. I have tip edge braces which i'll wear for about 18months, currently on top but getting bottom ones soon which also brings in the elastics. Then retainers for 6 months. Not sure about the details really as i don't ask many questions when im in there! Hope that helps!

deep bite
I have a deep bite and have braces on the top only for now. My bottom teeth hit the back of top teeth and I have had some wearing and a cavity on the back of my front tooth. Possibly due to wear. When my front teeth move enough I will get the bottom braces. I also have tmj which I think is because I adjusted my bite for comfort. (Just my opinion) I have had top braces since March 31 and don't notice any change. I am somewhat concerned that I cannot notice and movement. Maybe I am just not patient enough. I guess time will tell.
Deep bite treatment
Hi I'm 39 and my deep bite is being corrected by a bite plate that has
coil springs attached to it to push the top molars back. I've had this
contraption in my mouth for 6 months now and possibly it will be removed
at my next visit in 6 weeks.
Once the molars are pushed back I'll be getting a nance appliance (hopefully
without another bite plate) to anchor the molars while pulling the rest of the
upper arch back to the repositioned molars.
I've got ceramic uppers and metal lowers.
Hope this helps.

Deep bite
I had top only for now braces put on just a week ago-absolutely no pain just discomfort and slow eating.
Next time is Monday June 23 and I have either TPA OR bottom braces put on or even both (my top was hitting my lower gumline ) and i have space between my top teeth.. I'll post next time on progress.

ditto
I'm 28 years old, have had braces for 2 years.
I had (have!) a deep bite, over jet and everything else you can imagine.
They have done all sorts of stuff to my teeth, but the thing that actuall worked (haha) were "turbos" (they cemented metal posts on the back of my front 4 teeth). The turbos (not sure of the proper term) stopped my lower teeth from touching the upper and i wore bands to pull the teeth together and it worked (slightly). Its been very trying... but i guess worth it... (not really)

I had a deepbite and overjet. my treatment plan was first to have lower braces and a biteplate for 6 months. Then I got my upper braces and little bit later class II elastics. My bite has opened a lot and my overjet is getting smaller.
The elastics has reduced my overjet remarkably. My deepbite was corrected by reverse curve archwires.

My treatment started with lowers only with a removable bite plate on the top. I also had a coil spring on the lowers at the front to sort out some crowding issues.
The coil springs & bite plate came off earlier than the estimated 6 months.
The uppers went on at month 6.
I am now in month 7.
the uppers won't be working on my overjet till I graduate to the next archwire, probably month 9.
In month 12, I will get elastics.
in month 18, I should be getting debraced.
