I feel like one of those people, who wonders if everything with braces is normal at this age. I'm 28, for those wondering. The soreness, which won't go away for more than a few days, the pain, loose teeth, embarrassment of eating out, etc. You name it, I've probably called my cousin to reassure myself I am normal. My cousin who is the same age just got her braces off in January. Out of all the people I know, I have only met three other people in person who wore braces as adults. None, have them now. Incidentally, while disscussing my cermaic/ metal mouth we all have one odd thing in common. Dreams of missing teeth.
Last week I had a dream that one of my incisors fell out (it has been sore and in pain for a week). In my dream the tooth came out and left a gigantic gaping hole in my mouth, with the bracket still hanging from the wire. Very weird. I woke up panicked, and went straight to the mirror.
My cousin and co-workers also reported dreams of missing teeth. My cousin said the dreams stopped when she got her braces off in January. She then asked if I had braces in my dream, or if my teeth were naked. In her missing teeth dreams she had no braces, in mine I had braces. She thought it meant something. Any idea to what this could mean? Anyone else having these "missing teeth" dreams? It would be great to hear your stories, since it would make me feel less odd.

Several tooth loss dreams happened to me years before being advised to get braces. In one particularly creepy dream, I pulled out my incisors with my fingers because they were loose, and a long string of gum tissue came out with the roots... shiver...! Maybe natural tooth loss as a child is somehow traumatic in adult years?
I think I've had a dream about teeth falling, out but I can't recall.
I did have a dream recently though that my top teeth moved too far one way so that my front teeth were actually off to the side.

I had a dream the other night that my braces somehow made my teeth horribly crooked, some of them were loose and others looked rotten and there were ulcers all over the gumline. Ironically none of them were missing while in real life I have gaps from my premolar extractions.
Another time I had a dream that I had braces on both the front and back of my teeth as well as on the inside of my cheeks and elastics attached all over the place. It was really weird.

I had the most awful dream last night, I dreamt that I looked in the mirror some of my teeth were missing and that my gums were turning to jelly - my mouth was full of crumbling teeth - it was horrific! I woke up really traumatised and have never been so glad in the 2 years of wearing my brace that it was still steadfastly stuck to my teeth! Ugh!!!
