How many of you got surprisingly early release dates??

So your ortho gives you an estimated time frame. Did you ever get off with an early release and if so how early??

And if you did were you surprised or did the ortho kind of let you know that the date would be bumped up?

I go friday to the ortho and I sort of want to ask since she said things are moving nicely but I'm kind of in the don't want to know so I don't get my hopes up mood.

I know I still got atleast 8 months at minimum w/ them left on but hoping instead of the 24 it will be more like 20 (since they said 20-24).

just curious to see how many got off early

I'm still too early in the process to have a happy surprise like that, but I'm hopeful!!

Well, I have not been given an early relase date (I've only had braces for 6 weeks, so I'm not into the process enough to get an earlier date), but I was given a surprisingly short treatment time - 8 months...so I've only got 6.5 months left! Yay!

I asked on Monday... and they couldn't tell me for sure. I was told, however, if I continue to comply with treatment and my body cooperates -- I could get them off a couple months early. I am presently 7/18 months in.

landela, how did you swing an 8 month estimate?!!? I'm so jealous, you got your braces after me but will be debraced before me!
Thanks for asking the question kirjax, I'm dying to know if it's more common for estimates to go over or fall under the estimates debrace date. Obviously you can guess which one I want. Fingers and toes crossed!!

Funny you ask, i was just given a debanding date and I am still GLOWING with happiness!!!!

My original estimate was 2 years, and the time has been almost dead on. If everything goes to plan (which it may or may not) they will be taken off 1 month early. It could have been FOUR months early, but I had a small issue that i wasnt satisfied with, and opted for her to take the extra time to tweak it. I am really happy with the way my teeth are behaving at this moment, and knock on wood that they co-operate for the next 2 months until my deband!

I am not a big surprize girl, I like to be informed of how things are going, and need to know every little adjustment, coil, spring, bend etc... I think if i got a "Surprize!! I take them off tomorrow!!", I would be verrry skeptical...

but thats just me...

I was surprized to be given a debanding date 2 months ahead.... but she was very clear that that is IF my teeth stay settled...

(I love my ortho!!!!! Everyone in her office is SO sweet)

My teeth weren't really too bad (I have a few pics posted in my story thread and I plan on adding more tonight when I'm at home and not at work). I had a 40% overbite (I think thats what they said) and crowding on my bottom teeth. My front teeth were both kind of V-ed into each other and had a space between them from 12 years of sucking my thumb when I was younger. So I'm just hoping that my treatment time won't be extended.

I had an original treatment time of 18mo, but was done in 12! I didn't know I would be done early until just a couple months before my debanding. Yay!

Unfortunately, my sentenced was lengthened from 24-30 months to 30-36 months.

Here is to you having your sentence shortened

May I ask why you had to have longer treatment??

My treatment time was initially 18 months, but my ortho is shooting for 15, because once that 16 month rolls around I'll be (hopefully) living in Japan.
Getting to my appointments would be a little difficult.

My sentence was extending due to my extraction gaps "taking their own sweet time" to close

He warned me ahead of time it might happen, so I have just accepted it. Might as well since I have no other choice

oh I see. Ok yeah some teeth are just stubborn! Thankfully I didn't have extractions so I think that's why I'm generally moving fairly quicker.

I was told it would be about 27 months. That date has come and gone, and there's no end in sight. I'm seriously ready to just have them off and be done with it.
