Hi all, been really busy and havn't been on much......but now i'm back with a big question. I go next Tuesday for my next adjustment and i am seeing one thing that is disturbing. It seems as though my bite is narrowing. And not just the top, it's the bottoms too. I first noticed it when I was closing my mouth and biting my tongue. I went back to my before pics from the ortho and now I can really tell.
Now, what is the answer to this? What can be done to help? I know an expander will, but c'mon, i've been through enough with this so far with the headgear and bite plates. DM also put flat wires on top and bottom at the last adjustment to help with the levelling. It seems this problem didn't arise until these were put on.
Any suggestions? My wife is going with me at the same time as she is getting her spacers put in........wwooooohhhooooooo, now I can pick on her. But also she can see what I have gone through face to face, and what she will also.....
Later, Mott

Back to the Ortho-New Problem
Stick a fork In me.......I'm Done!
No need to fear - I would call the ortho just to check in, but this might not be a big deal.
I had a narrow upper and lower pallate (sp?) to begin. Both were expanded tremendously using elastics and hooks. My bite was VERY broad!! However, 6 months further into my treatment, my pictures show that my bite has narrowed a bit from when my expansion was complete. When I brought this up to my ortho, he told me that he overcompensated when expanding in the first place, because he expected a little settling of my bite and also that the teeth need to be in line as well as my bite - sometimes this means the jaw needs to be a little less wide, sometimes a little more.
I would ask the ortho just to save you the time worrying, but believe me - my smile looks 100 times better now than it did at its widest. Its not all about the width, its about the way your teeth fit together. We can't all have a smile as big as Julie Roberts : )
