Hi all,

this is not a question, just some ranting.
Some weeks ago, they placed micro screws on the inside of my upper arch. Near
the palate and between the roots of the second premolar and the first molar. You
know, a doc said then, that these screws need to be used (activated, an elastic or
spring hooked on it) as soon as possible. If not, such a screw can become loose. I
said I had an ortho appointment almost 14 days after the screws were placed. Too
late, he said, try to get an appointment sooner. I tried, but my ortho was going to
some seminar and couldn't see me. Last Wednesday, I finally would have had this
appointment, but then they phoned to me telling my ortho was ill. So, yet another
week that I needed to wait. And guess what, that doc was right. The screw is now
indeed unused for too long and is so very very loose. I think I can pull it out, even
without turning it, if I want to. So, yet another failure I have to endure ...

just thought I'd give some moral support. . . When I got my mini-screws, they were both fine for about 3 months without anything attached, then one became loose (I could feel "inside" when I pressed on it - if that makes sense, then I could see it moving). So I had to have it taken out, wait minimum 4 weeks for it to heal (I waited 5), then have it placed again. The screws were used with springs about 5 days after this, and have both been fine since. So I just wanted to say don't give up on them They do a good job once they're in (and stay in) and attached to springs/elastic.

Bad luck, Clo As you know, one of mine came out too, maybe because it hadn't been loaded straightaway. The two my ortho put in later were loaded immediately and are still holding tight after 14 months of use.

Try not to get too down over it, it's easy enough for them to insert you a new screw, and if they put some force on it straightaway then it should not come loose this time.
