Teeth bumping...got my answer today

#1 Post by gigiso »

Thanks to the folks who answered by post about would my top teeth bump my bottom teeth. Well I got my answer today. I am now officially braced. They built up my back molars, which I think is going to be a little challenging (so far only drinking water). But in addition they gave me a bite turbo on my front, left tooth and man-o-man, does it feel weird. I wish they had put it on both front teeth, at least then I wouldn't feel lopsided! And I don't know where my tongue is supposed to go. So far that's my biggest complaint, but I suppose tomorrow the soreness will hit me and then I'll have something else to whine about.

I saw your post and wanted to let you know that during my second time in braces I had molar build-ups for several months. They aren't great the first few days, but I can assure you that you'll be a-ok. I ate everything as I normally did within a couple days, and chewed gum like I always do. Good luck to you and hope you have a great week! :)

Thank you for starting this line of discussion.

Last week I got my braces and the two molar build ups, but after popping off 2 lower brackets because of my front bite... today I got a Bite Turbo.

I do not have any teeth that touch when I close my mouth, not even the molar build ups.

I have no tooth surface where I can chew up anything.

If someone has had this, would you please post here as to how long it took for your teeth to move enough to actually crush food between them.

I'm in that boat Pebbles and would like to know the answer. I haven't heard of "build-ups" but I can guess pretty well what they are - could do with them myself! Saying that, I'm getting used to it (1 week in) and eating what I want, but I'm fed up of eating toast with a knife and fork...

I've had build-ups on 2 molars since I got my braces put on. (1 build up on both sides) After the first day my teeth were sore from chewing with them, but now I'm so used to having them in I don't even notice them. (my ortho calls them bumpers) At first I wasn't used to them so I would hit my top teeth with my build-ups on the bottom. I even knocked a filling loose once, luckily it wasn't too hard for the dentist to fix.
