Those people who had teeth extraction, what type of braces do you have?
My orthdontist said with my 4 extractions, I can not get self smart clip. Because extractions needs a elstic around the brackets.. what do you think?

I dunno, my ortho doesn't offer self-ligating and I had no problem with it as I wanted the new sapphire ones he was offering for clear. But why wouldn't your ortho be able to use powerchains with the self-ligating?

What's sapphire brace like?
I didn't get to ask that specific to my ortho.. I've been calling the staff to get more answers after my 2nd consultation. Their office is pretty busy and with a lot (15?) staffs for 2 orthodontists.
They gave me two prices, one for metal braces and other one is clear ( smarclip). I just want to go with self-ligating b/c that looks smaller and attract less food since there's no ligatures...
But then at price of $5100 (metal braces) comes with ligatures braces.
The staff told me inorder to close the space for extraction, that's required..

Go to my www link, they look like the Inspire Ice brackets. My ortho's office has 1 doctor and 8-10 assistants running around in the back. My ortho only offers metal, clear, or lingual braces and none are self-ligating.

That what exactly I'm saying.. I just wanted to get the most out of the cost I'm paying.. if you go from power chian to self ligating that's 500 dollar addition. And if you decided to go on with clear one, that's another 500.
I hope my I choose a right doctor afterall.. She's a bit expensive by 900 dollar than others but she seems like she really cares ( 2 yrs of retainer treaments after braces are off) and also she's ASO.

I did not look at the cost of my ortho, as I know many people who have been treated by him and seen much of his work. I know what he is capable of and trust him. Regardless of his brackets, I know his skill will get me through my treatment. It just helps that he carries the bracket type I found most esthetically pleasing. Also, I know he really cares about the level of treatment he provides and his assistants care about the patients too. I love my ortho office and I wouldn't have gone anywhere else. As long as you feel this way about your office, cost difference shouldn't be too big of a deciding factor.
