my son's going to the ortho

#1 Post by science teacher »

As you know I'm working on fixing a lifetime of bad bite because my front teeth were straight.

So, I"m at the ortho's and they have a poster saying that by age 7 your child should have had a comprehensive ortho check. I can totally understand that since I had surgery to fix my narrow maxilla, and 2 of my neices have had expanders as kids for the same problem.

Anyway, on 1/9 my 8yo is going to the ortho. I"m a little worried because his top teeth completely cover his bottom teeth when he smiles. Hopefully it's just because the permanent teeth are coming in.

If not I"ll be asking about lower expanders I bet.

Hi Kim! My son is 10 and is already in phase I- expander and 4 front brackets. He has done well with Phase I and it has made a tremendous difference ( he had a cross bite and one of his front teeth was in front of his bottoms and one was behind)
He has had little discomfort and it has been fun going through this with him. We get appointments together and help each other choose what color ligs we are getting. LOL :D
Best of luck to your son!

Denise, wow, your son is lucky to have all that room in his mouth! I, unfortunately had to wear an expander. You're also quite lucky to have plenty of room with your 8 year old!
