One month! since being debanded!!

#1 Post by Lyn »

I cannot believe it has been one month already since I got debanded! It feels so great to be brace free for the holidays. I will be smiling in ALL my photos, hahha

However, I have had some negative results from the Essix retainers:
1. Everytime you want to eat or drink you have to take them out, wash them off, rinse your mouth, before you can put them back in (to avoid trapped food).
2. I wear lipstick, which rubs off on them, so I'm constantly checking to make sure they are clean.
3. I LOVE to chew gums, eat mints, etc. NOT NOW!!!
4. Trapped saliva, ewwww!! :
x

So, yeah, it has been great being brace free - - but there are problems with the retainers too! OH well - happy holidays! :D

You are so lucky that you get to be braces-free for the holidays! I have to wait until after the New Year, but it's still coming up pretty soon.

I'm hoping i'll get Hawley retainers...i'm such a fanatical gum chewer!

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto :-)

I am finding that I am back to my early brace days as far as not wanting to eat in between meals at all because it is too much trouble. After a year in braces I didn't care as much anymore and had kind of gone back to my old eating style. Now I am back to it not being worth the hassle again. It sure is nice to be able to take them out though and actually have the food wash all the way down instead of being trapped.

I have been either rinsing or brushing before putting the retainer back in. Also the ortho told me don't let saliva dry on the retainer or it will stink! :FeelSick:
Braced on 8/05 - Braces off 12/06
