Yesterday I went in for an adjustment. Oooh I felt like it was good news! The ortho did the typical, bite down bite down thingie and checked my extraction gaps (just a tiny tiny tiny gap left). His response made me so happy! :D He said something like, "Wow look at your teeth! Amazing! Wow! Your teeth are moving so fast!" I was like...umm does that mean I have bad gums? And he said "no usually that means you have a high metabolism" Hmmm I dont know if he means the same kind of metabolism as eating food, etc.

So I asked him about how I was doing in terms of progress and schedule. I told him that my wedding is in July and initially at consultation we had talked about me having a late fall wedding, but my fiancee and I decided to move it to summer. My ortho had said we can take them off for the wedding day, but I am wanting to get them off earlier for engagement pictures...and just get em off for good! My ortho said in 4 weeks I will go in for a tightening (usually my appts are 6 weeks apart), and then 4 weeks after that (2 months from now) we will take xrays again. And then we can discuss schedule. I guess he wants to see how my roots are doing.

Yesterday's appt was just a rechaining and I am wearing my elastics different. They are the same on both sides with the top "4" tooth connecting to the bottom "4" and "6". My "5" teeth in all quadrants were extracted. Oooh I am excited. I hope I can get them off early. I'd like to get them off sometime in May and by latest June - a month before the wedding. However, I was originally scheduled for 24-28 months. If I got them off in June that would be 17 months. But I am not sure what else needs to be done, just some tweaking here and there. My bite is starting to look really good and my teeth are totally straight, gaps pretty much closed :D :-)o

I was originally sentenced to 18-24 mos. I just got mine off this week at 16 mos! My teeth moved really quick too! Just remember one thing, your teeth visibly look straight, but your roots & nerves of the teeth are still moving and getting into position. . . . . So being patient is worth the final outcome.
Good Luck! :-#) Terrific Progress!!

Wow, what a great adjustment! It would be great if you get the braces off for your wedding and the engagement pics, but like KK said, the pics can always be airbrushed.

My teeth move fast too; I was originally given an estimate of 18-22 months and at my last adjustment my ortho said 18 months for sure, and he wouldn't be surprised if I went sooner!

Good luck!
