2nd adjustment today!

#1 Post by eaglesoaring »

Hi, all! It's been a while since I've posted, but thought I'd share my 2nd adjustment experience with you.

I've had my braces for 4 months. Expecting to have them for 18 months. Inovation-R's upper and lower.

I had x-ray's today, to make sure my teeth/root alignment was good. Apparently it was!

I got my molar buildups OFFFF!!! What a blessing! They used a small tool (looked like a Dremel tool), and basically ground them down, until they were gone. No pain at all.

I was started on Class 2 elastics. I haven't felt any pain with these just yet, but have had a slight headache. Just slight. Lower #6 to upper #3. This has actually helped my jaw feel more comfy, as my overbite was becoming INCREDIBLY noticeable, and uncomfortable. Now, these elastics are pulling my lower jaw forward, and it has made my bite more comfy.

I got a braided-looking thing on my upper six, front teeth, to close gaps. Is this a power-chain? I love the way it looks! It makes my teeth look so straight! Anyway, it was to close a gap (that I didn't have before braces), and 2 hours after wearing this device, my gap is gone, plus the smaller, hair-line gaps are gone from those teeth as well! Plus, because it's white, it makes my upper archwire look less noticeable! I love it!

At my next appointment, in 6 weeks, they will be repositioning a few brackets. Since my teeth have straightened, they'll need to reposition some brackets to change the way my teeth are moving.

When I went in, they asked me how I thought my treatment was going. My concerns (very noticeable overbite, gaps, concerns that my lower teeth have slowed in their movement) were all addressed. And, actively treated! I'm so happy and feel so encouraged!

Hope everybody is doing well!
Have a wonderful Monday!

Mery- Hey, thanks for the reply! And you are right...my whole mouth is so sore! Last night, I woke up with some discomfort. This morning, my teeth (ALL of them) are sore. I thought that just the teeth hooked up with the elastics would be sore, but all of them are sore. Is this normal? Did you experience this? Please let me know. And I hope things are going well for you!

Linda_ Many thanks!!! Hope you are having heaps of progress, too!

Mery- I'll hang in there, and I have switched to some medium-soft food, and am feeling pretty good this afternoon! Don't misunderstand, if I got bumped in the mouth, it would hurt like the dickens...but, there's no reason that would happen, so I'm thinking it'll just get better!

It was just surprising to me, how quickly the elastics kicked my teeth in to "sore stage". But, it makes sense, the way you described it.

Thanks a big bunch for your encouragement!
Have a good one! :)

I'll listen to your advice! No cats or dogs! Or little kiddo's that could hit me in the mouth! LOL.

Thanks, Mery...you've been very helpful!
