Rough tooth suRface?

#1 Post by stRaighteR »

It's been about seven years since my braces were removed, and I have been noticing that the areas on the tooth where the cement held the bracket in place, have a rough feel to them...if i run my fingernail along this area it feels extremely rough, and the other areas of the tooth is extremely smooth...i can tell it's where the glue was, because the internal surfaces of the tooth are extremely smooth like the areas of the external surface where there was no cement...

on close inspection of the tooth there are a number of tiny scratches in the previously cemented area...

i don't believe it's residual cement from the braces, because wouldn't that have come off by now? it's been 7 years...

Maybe you could ask your dentist if he could polish them for you? I had rough spots on a few teeth a few years later and my dentist used that gritty paste stuff and polished them smooth just like that!

It can be cement that wasn't removed by your ortho. Try talking to an ortho about just polishing your teeth for you.
About three years since being braced. Changed ortho twice, so it's hard to keep track.

A very special thanks to KK & linda21 for constantly reading my log. Thanks!
