2nd adjustment: Making up for lost time!

#1 Post by ebjones1 »

I had my second adjustment yesterday.. All went well. They gave me all new wires - .18 (i think) on top and a reverse curve on the bottom. However, I felt like they were going to yank my teeth out! I have had no problems whatsoever during the month, and have almost forgotten that i have braces. But when they start changing ligs and wires, it's like it makes up for lost time. It was kind of embarassing, too, because there were two other kids in there and they were completely relaxed.. no problem. And here I was jumping around in my chair!
They told me to take 4 ibuprofen before my adjustments.. and I have been. But it doesn't even cut it. After my adjustment, though, I'm fine. A little sore, but fine.

The assistant said that my hygiene is good, but my bottoms had a little buildup. She said it was nothing abnormal, but that sometimes its hard to clean because the brackets are so close together and it's hard to see what gets in there. She gave me this nifty little brush to use, too. She said that everything else looked good, and that I was doing a good job cleaning my gum lines and such. :D

I can already tell this morning that my bite feels a little different on the right side.. and I'm assuming this is because of the reverse curve wire. One question though - I thought most people got molar buildups with this type of wire to prevent too much pressure on the teeth that were supposed to be leveling out? I also thought that leveling was one of the last steps in treatment.. I'm confused! Help me!!

That's an awesome link KK! I read through it all, and I'm a long way from the end, but at least the steps make so much more sence to me now.
Thanks!

The teeth in all the pictures have the close to the same crowding as mine, so it was cool to see how things will move :pinkbraces:
