I got what Norrie has, the silicone stuff, and love it compared to regular wax. it actually stays, doesn't fall apart, and is softer and more comfy, but I paid about 1.00 ea. I got at Orthomechanics store on Amazon and they have great customer service, just for the record. There was something else I bought that I didn't like and they refunded my money, no problem. So, I want to "pay back" by giving them a plug! :-) I've been using "wax" like crazy though and I will check out Macks! great tip!

I noticed the price is the same for silicone or "regular" wax when I check on the web. I don't think I have tried the silicone ones yet as the only one my ortho gave me is the regular ortho wax and the ones I am able to buy is also the same.

It's definitely worth ordering online. So, so much different than regular wax that I can't even tell you. I'll never be without it!

Most drugstores do carry silicone wax. Instead of looking in the dental section, look in with the ear plugs. There are silicone ear 'pillows' that are sold in that section. They have generic. I used the Mack's brand. It is the same dental silicone wax, but in bigger portions. I'd get about 3 portions out of each ear plug. I also found them to be cheaper. It was far and away my favorite for over 2 years.

LOVE this advice! Thank you so, so much.
Did you use wax every day during your treatment? I'm starting to think that I will.

My ortho gives it out free but I choose to buy it because I hate the cheap crap they give you for free. I use the GUM aloe & vitamin E version. I love it. It's sticky and it has a very light spearmint taste. I got tired of getting a couple packs at a time at CVS so my fiance ordered me a case of it on line at Amazon! Now, even though I only use it from time to time (7 months into treatment), I love knowing I can go to the closet and grab a pack when I need it. I also travel for work and have a long commute so I have it everywhere (car, travel bag, purse, briefcase, etc.)
