Nor do I. My ortho calls it a "sectional" brace ( well, she actually always says "appliance" rather than "brace" ). I am only looking to move the front 6 teeth on my top arch so only have brackets on front 6 plus premolars.

Jem
Sectional brace with Damon clear brackets fitted to front 6 upper teeth 3 January 2012
Brackets added to premolars 2 April 2012
Estimated treatment time originally 6-9 months
. Brace removed on 22 July 2013 after 18 months and 19 days
Now enjoying bonded upper retainer plus part time essix/hawley( I have both)

i had molar bands the first time around but when i got my braces yesterday I didn't get any. i thought it was so weird but apparently a lot of orhos don't do it anymore. I'm happy though because i didn't have to get spacers in-between my molars or do the whole "bite down really hard" routine

No molar bands for me. I'm 20 months into treatment with no problems with my molar brackets.

TMJill I actually at the start of my treatment broke one of my molar brackets by trying to trim the end of my wire.

I really missed the boat on non-banding molars; i had 8 molar bands the first time, i currently have 6 molar/bicuspid bands (but no braces yet), & will be getting at least another 2 if not 6 with braces next year.

The spacers are annoying but short-term, the real pain I find with molar bands is keeping the banded teeth clean at the gums. The bands on my first bicuspids are pretty conspicuous, when I smile I feel like the Johnny Depp adolescent Willy Wonka  . Actually, my dentist told me last appointment that she used to use reverse pull headgear for the kind of expansion I need, before my current appliance was developed. I think Im happy with the molar bands after all!
I cant imagine trying to fit CPAP around reverse-pull headgear... :yikes:

I have 6 molar bands, 4 on my molars (top two support an appliance - an upper lingual arch with nance button) and 2 on my lower canines. No one I know or see on this forum has ever had molar bands on their lower canines before, but my orthodontist said it would make it easier for when I get my retainer made :? so i have no idea? lol

they are ok and I dont really notice them much :)
