They're just plain clear ones :) I've actually had no problem with them staining, even after eating about 5 servings of minestrone soup within the past week, becuase I can't chew :D!

i know the actual brackets are clear and stay clear--but what about the clear ligatures???? any staining on those?? i am getting braces 4-28-09 and i am getting radiance brand as well. my orthodontist will only see me every 10-12 weeks so if they get stained i have a ways to go before they get changed out. any help will be appreciated!! thanks!

radiance

Hi There,

I can't speak highly enough of these braces. No, I'm not sent here for advertisement on their behalf. :)

Don't get anything other than radiance. I can't speak for the other brands, but I've seen ALL sorts of other ceramic etc. braces, and none come even CLOSE to looking like the ones I've got. I see people with white ones, ceramic ones, and semi-transparent ones--and man, I just feel bad for them.

People with the metal ones, I just think "what on earth was going through their head?"---not only do radiance look fantastic, yes, I think it actually makes my smile look better. Makes it sparkle more.

I only, only use the clear ligatures. they DO change color, absolutely, no questions. They will turn yellow in about 2 weeks, but it's highly dependent on what you eat. For example, curry and hot sauce will turn them yellow in1 meal. I've gone two weeks however, without them turning much yellow by eating.

I actually change my own ligatures at will :) SHH!! I won't explain--but I'm a salsa dancer, and I can't be going around with yellow ligatures. So I change them maybe once a week--saves a trip to the dentist and it's really simple honestly.

Anyway, for you all I assembled a collage of me. No I don't have a million girlfriends, but it's me with girls because I salsa a lot :) One of them though, IS my girlfriend. See if you can figure which.

I have much closer shots as well if you want.

oh! you should know there are a few things they don't tell you.

When you get braces they change the arch wire, which is the wire that the ligatures (little bands) hold in place. The arch wire comes in a variety of types and sizes--some are square, some are rounded, some are weak and strong and they vary in thickness.

The thicker, the more visible. In the Radiance marketing, the girl has the tiniest arch-wire I've ever seen. Mine is much bigger--but still, you can't see it anyway.

Get your teeth whitened BEFORE you get them put on, and also get any cavity work done before they get put on..

Here is a collage of photos of me.

get radiance! thank me later.

Just read that I shouldn't post full face pictures.

the above link is me and lots of full face pictures of me. I'm aware of the risks and don't care in the slightest. Heck, come see a performance if you're in the San Diego area.

Radiance brackets are from American Orthodontics and are growing very rapidly in popularity. Orthodontists want three major things from their ceramic braces, and so far, they seem to be available with Radiance:

1. Move teeth at same rate as metal.
2. Look as aesthetic as possible.
3. Easy to remove.

3M's Clarity bracket gained popularity because it's ease of removal during debond. Many other brands tend to shatter, requiring a drill and a diamond bur to remove residual parts of the bracket from the tooth. However, the bracket has a metal insert where the wire is located, and is relatively opaque, so that they may not everyone's tooth shade. Radiance brackets are pretty much clear, so they will blend in with just about any shade of tooth.

Hi, I also have Radiance braces, and as much as I felt nervous before I got them fitted they don't bother me in the slightest now, they're there to do a job. I got them fitted 3 months ago and already my teeth are transforming. I had two sticky out canine teeth and they have been completely pulled back in, they are a tad squint so they have still to straighten up. I had a thin arch wire on to start with and now I have a thicker wire on, took me a few days to get used to and now doesn't bother me. My ligatures stained because I love lasagne and the sauce stains then bit it really wasn't that noticeable, however it is still nice to get new clear ligatures fitted. I also had turbo bites behind my two front teeth to change my overbite, these were supposed to be dotted for 6 months but removed after 3. So thongs ate progressing fast. My bottom teeth were never that bad bit did require some work, I have 2 gaps in my lower teeth until one straightens and then he will start to close the gaps again. I hope this doesn't take too long it does annoy the Tongue a little feeling a new gap. I have a much more confidant smile now even with the braces on. P.s, I'm new go this how do I post pics?
