Third Adjustment Today - OOOOUUUUCCCHHHH

Ok, so today I had my third adjustment (or my 70-somethingth if you count the 26 months I did in Invisalign changing top and bottom trays every two weeks!). Today, they put on stainless steel size 16 wires, which they said would be the last wires I would have. The assistant warned me that they would hurt, and even more so after the Ortho put "bends" into them. Man, was she right. My teeth hurt like $%## before I even pulled out of the parking lot.

Anyone know how long you stay in your "last" wires? Should I take this as the beginning of the end of my sentence?

Also, he's decided not to try to fix my midline or totally fix my crossbite on one side since it's functional (i.e. the teeth meet up and I can chew, but the top teeth don't overlap the bottoms like they are supposed to.). Anyone had this happen mid-treatment, where the ortho tells you he's not going to fix something after all?
