first adjustment today

#1 Post by Icesk8er »

I went to have my first adjustment today (got the upper ceramincs on in January and the lower metals on last month). My ortho is very happy with my progress but did drop a small bomb on me. He said that my crossbite on the left side would likely not resolve completely, nor would my midline misalignment. Evidentally, my midline on my top arch is centered under my nose and the bottom arch is off to one side. He said it's more important for my upper midline to be under my nose and centered and therefore he doesn't want to mess with it for a couple of millimeters. He doesn't want to pull teeth if they are healthy and also doesn't want to put me through a SARPE for the small degree of disparity between my top and bottom jaw.

I'm trying to post pictures...bear in mind that my progress is not just over three months...I had Invisalign for 26 months before switching to "real" braces.

So, my question, has anyone been told that they are not going to achieve a perfect smile and are you ok with it?

Thanks!

When I went for my consultation I was told that my mid-line more than likely wouldn't be absolutely perfect at the end of treatment. Yet my orthodontist said the result would be a million times better than it was to start with, he said with the result of my "overall smile" my midline discrepancy would be of minimal notice.
