Haha this is great
let's see...chocolate, pop, hard candies (but only sucking on them), beef jerky, steak, pizza, gum, cake, icecream...well you get the point. The only thing that's happened so far is a wire came out of the back bracket..but then I've only been braced 4 months so I'm sure I'll break something before my time is up
I eat anything i can chew but that limits me anyway because I have a bite plate that is a fixed appliance. My Ortho told me the rules are for irresponsible teens and younger people who tend not to take as much time getting all the gunk out after they eat. I figure I will eat everything once I get my bite plate off in March I am looking forward to my teeth touching again so I can have a nice steak

What, me not stay away from the no-nos of food. don't even know what you are talking about. Yeah right.
Caramel is my favorite thing to be in chocolate. I have been very good and only had two since getting braces. I suck on popcorn everytime I go to the movies. I don't really like pop so that's not a hard one.
I love making jerky, so staying away from that is not possible. Let's see what else.
Gummies? I will not admit that I have a cupboard full of those annoying little bears taunting me to eat them. My favorite. I can't resist.
Definately GUILTY on almost every count. But I have been pretty good because I have noticed weightloss, so I think i'll keep up with it if I can.
It is better to aim for the stars and land in a tree than to aim for a tree and land in the mud.

I have eaten everything! The only think I've stayed away from is jujubes because I don't like that they pull on your teeth when you chew. That and they gum up my braces and it's really hard to get it out. My dentist implied that eating foods like that could lengthen the time in braces, but I've only had mine on for 6mths and they come off in 2mths. I think it was the junk food that sped up the process!!
Thanks everyone for your replies... it's nice to know I'm not alone.
I've got an appointment with my dentist tomorrow morning for a cleaning and check up and then
my ortho appointment 2 hours later... hopefully my total lack of self-control with sweets will not have caused
any damage. I guess I'll find out tomorrow... until then, I plan to continue my wicked ways and I
encourage everyone else to do the same!
I just started wearing braces so i've been pretty good. I did have cake today but it wasn't sticky or anything lol.
It is okay to eat chocolate right? Just plain chocolate? I think I can try and give up on caramel chocolate for a bit but definitely not chocolate altogether!

Metal bottom braces: May 1st, 2006
I don't eat popcorn, hard candy, taffy, ice, raw carrot, gummy bears and corn on the cob... but I do eat sugarless gum. The receptionist at my dentist told me if I keep chewing gum I will be wearing my braces forever cause it slows down the process. I still eat my gum though and my teeth are moving pretty fast.
